The Best Exercises You’ve Never Heard Of by Nick Nilsson
The exercises included in this book are not variations of exercises you’ve already done in the gym. They are brand new exercises that you might never have heard about. The book includes exercises for every part of the body: triceps, traps, hamstrings, and wings, etc. Also, every exercise has tips and tricks, the difficulties you might encounter and how to tackle them to make the exercise better. It lets you know that the instructor has detailed knowledge about the routines he is writing about.
However, you might find that you can’t use some of the methods because of your own personal limitations. Nick’s book has between five and twelve exercises for every part of the body, except the neck and the forearms. These are the two muscle groups that he does not touch on.
Metabolic Surge Rapid Fat Loss by Nick Nilsson
“Metabolic Surge” is a brilliant book on fat loss by Nick Nilsson. “Metabolic Surge” is loaded with the most intense and effective techniques for fat loss that you can find.
“Metabolic Surge” is about losing fat quickly. With the instructions given in the book you can lose ten pounds over the weekend. You will be seeing great results in thirty six days. The techniques in this book will help you melt fat fast.
If you have tried low intensity exercises for fat loss then you will know that they have limitations as well. In this book Nick explains about some great intensity training in the cardio section that will most definitely produce results. “Metabolic Surge” has information on everything from nutrition, exercises, reps, to lesser known techniques like “Muscle Rounds,” and “Lactic Acid Training.” “Muscle Rounds” help you to make muscle with a fat loss program. Nick also effectively manages to manipulate body hormones to keep the body in a constant fat loss mode.
A drawback to “Metabolic Surge” is that it is a very intensive program. Though there is a preparatory section for the entry level trainee its still a hardcore program. There is however, a scaled-down version of the full “Metabolic Surge” program available for a beginner to intermediate trainer.
Also the low-carb approach makes it a difficult thing to follow. Some people may not even be able to do so for medical reasons. There is a different diet for people who can’t follow the low-carb method, but it may limit the results.
“Metabolic Surge” is an intense and effective training program. It’s a must buy for bodybuilders who likes to train with some intensity.

Teen Weight Loss Advice For Parents
It’s hard enough to be a teenager, even if their body weight is considered in the normal range. But if they are overweight, they can have more problems than the average teen. They may be dealing with low self esteem, depression, being socially isolated, and even health issues from being overweight.
First of all, a teenager who needs to lose weight needs support from their parents. They need to know that they are willing to help them stay motivated, will become educated in proper nutrition, and can be good role models.
Any teen may question their body image during these tumultuous years, but there is no ideal perfect figure. Everyone has something they don’t like about their looks – even supermodels. Parents can help their teen understand this through discussion and example.
Being a good role model means the grown-ups in the household need to eat the way they want the teen to eat. If the adult consumes pizza, chips, and soda, the teen will too. If the adult chooses fresh fruit and healthy snacks, and stocks the fridge with acceptable beverages, then the teen may be more willing to follow the same path. Keeping junk food out of the house and preparing healthy food in flavorable ways for all family members goes a long way in helping out a teenager who wants to lose weight.
A parent needs to encourage healthy weight loss choices, not anything questionably unhealthy or dangerous. There is no quick fix and starvation diets or laxatives can lead to health problems.
Adults who are active often have kids who are active. Parents can take teens along to the gym, go for bike rides together, or challenge the teen to a mean game of tennis. Limit the amount of time for inactive activities like TV and computer – for everyone in the house.
Teenagers will most likely need some help coming up with a plan for weight loss. A parent can make arrangements for a consultation with a nutritionist, if needed, to show them both what a healthy diet should look like. A physical exam and a doctor’s okay to diet are a definite must before beginning a weight loss program.
Some teens can really benefit from being part of a support system. They can join a weight loss group for teens or even Weight watchers. There are also online support groups and those might be easier for teens to join as they can remain as anonymous as they’d like while still getting a lot of support, supervision, and motivation.
It’s important to remember that losing weight is a decision that the teenager has to make, not the parent. Suggesting the teen needs to lose weight, no matter how it is said, will probably backfire. It’s the teen’s choice to make and the parent’s role is to be positive and supportive, and to model good exercise and eating habits.
The book “I’m Like, So Fat” has previously been reviewed on the blog and is an excellent resource for the parents of overweight teenagers. The review can be found HERE.
Low Carb Diet Foods For Successful Weight Loss
Low carb dieting has become fashionable in recent years especially with the publication of the Atkins diet. Losing weight is a goal for so many people and everybody is looking for the quick and easy way to lose weight. Some people do not need to lose weight at all but still get stressed over a couple of pounds. Others need to lose weight for medical reasons and may have one hundred pounds or more that they want to shed. Whatever their reasons, they like to know what low carb diet foods they can eat.
There are many different diets out there including low carbohydrate diets and the truth is that most of them will achieve weight loss if they are followed correctly. This does not mean always doing what the diet says every moment of every day. What is more important is how you deal with the inevitable occasion when you eat too much or feast on foods that are not on the plan. If you can write this off and return to the plan without giving yourself a hard time, you are likely to succeed. Everybody has those days – the important thing is to let them go and accept them as just another step on the road to permanent weight loss.
It is also important to find a diet that you can easily follow. Low carb diets, and low carb diet foods, suit many people because the rules are quite simple. As the name suggests, the diet consists of avoiding or limiting foods that are high in carbohydrates. These include bread, pasta, potatoes, rice and other grains. Sugar is also a carbohydrate. Once you understand what these foods are, it is a simple matter to choose dishes that avoid them.
Most criticism of low carbohydrate dieting is based on the fact that the dieters will get most of their daily calories from meat, dairy and other high fat products. This can lead to high cholesterol and other problems related to a high intake of saturated fats. Medical advice is advised before starting this type of diet. Sometimes weight loss is good in the early stages but people cannot handle the restrictions in the longer term and start to deviate from the diet.
One of the problems that many people have with low carb dieting is the elimination of bread and pasta. No more toast, spaghetti or pizza! Many of the foods that are quickest to prepare are based around carbohydrates – burgers in their buns, fries, sandwiches, pasta and sauce. Beer and other alcoholic drinks are high in carbs too. It is true that alcohol is generally restricted on any diet, because it is high in calories and very low in nutritional value, but low carb diets put particular emphasis on this.
Still there are many foods that can be enjoyed on a low carb diet. If you are fond of meat you will relish the opportunity to consume beef, chicken and other animal products. The popularity of these diets is clear from the length of time that they stay on the bestseller lists. It is just a matter of what suits you. If you choose the correct low carb diet foods, a low carb diet can work for you.
The Best Foods For Weight Loss
If you’re not sure how to eat to lose weight, you’re not alone. Many people don’t know how to eat to properly nourish their bodies or how to eat to burn fat and lose weight. The best advice is to educate yourself so you are armed to fight the overweight battle.
The first thing you should think about is getting away from processed food. Take a look at your freezer and how many prepared items you have; like frozen pizzas, burritos, waffles, or breaded chicken nuggets. Open your cupboards and notice how much food you have that comes in a box. Most of these foods have been processed within an inch of their lives and the processing that they go through tends to strip nutrients out of them. You’ll find that in general, processed foods, no matter what the label says, cannot be as healthy for you as fresh food.
Make an effort to shop locally and look for the freshest food you can find. Not only will you be supporting local agriculture and business, but you will also benefit from enjoying food that has not been processed and has a full complement of nutrients to offer you. While you’re at it, choose organic when you can to give you the biggest health punch per calorie.
Eat food that is whole or as close to whole as you can get. Raw veggies and fruit are good. Leave off the sauces, extra butter, and marinades from the food you eat. For example, have a grilled chicken breast without gravy and don’t add cream and sugar to the bowl of berries. Here are some weight loss and fat burning choices: turkey breast, chicken breast, citrus fruit, berries, garlic oil, apples, broccoli, soy beans, most fish and seafood, green beans, and spices like cayenne pepper and cinnamon.
When you are looking to eat the best food out there for your diet, one thing you can do is eat bright. Small children know this but we have forgotten it as we got older. Take a look at your dinner and think about how bright you can make it. Colorful foods like sweet potatoes, beets, and broccoli are packed with great nutritional value and vitamins. As a rule of thumb, the brighter the vegetable, the better it is for you.
Plan ahead for healthy weight loss eating. If you have your meals planned out and the ingredients on hand, you’re less likely to grab fast food or takeaways. If you don’t know how to prepare a vegetable that you’ve never tried, go through your cookbooks or get online and find a recipe. That strange vegetable may just become your new favorite friend.
Figuring out the right food for your weight loss is crucial to your success. Remember to eat whole food, eat simply, eat bright, plan ahead, and stay away from packaged food, and you’re on your way.
Also, this is not an exhaustive list. There are many more foods that will help you to lose weight. This is just a starting point, with some ideas for you to plan your diet around.
Still Too Heavy!
I had my monthly check up with my doctor this morning and guess what? Yes, I’m still too fat. I’ve got to watch my lifestyle and lose more weight.
I was actually looking forward to this visit because I have been feeling good lately. Well at least better than I have been for a while. I have been back at work for about a month now, albeit on reduced hours, and felt that I was gradually getting back into a routine. And I felt OK this morning as well, until the doc discovered my blood pressure was raised, slightly more than he liked. In fact it has been fairly stable lately so that was why he was concerned. So a change in medication and a lecture about lifestyle changes ensued!
To be fair to the doctor, I know myself that the weight needs to come off, it is just finding the best way to achieve it. I am attending cardiac rehab classes at present which concentrate on aerobic exercises. I go to these twice weekly and although I can see and feel a difference fitness wise, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of weight loss.
When I am finished with these classes the nurses can refer you on to other exercise programs, so I think I will be going to the gym to try and lose the extra pounds that way. And of course there has to be a healthy eating plan as well. It’s just choosing which one. And choosing one that works for you. And whatever I choose, I have to make sure that it is good for my health, as well.
Ah well, it’s going to be interesting in the weeks and months ahead to see how all this pans out. I will keep you all updated. And if you have any comments or indeed suggestions of fitness and diet programs, by all means leave them below.
