Do Diets Work?
You will have heard this statement many times, and the answer is probably no. Or maybe it is just that most people don’t give them time to work. Of the many people who start on a diet, the percentage that will actually succeed and lose the amount of weight that they set out to lose will be small compared to the amount who fail.
And the chances are that the many who fail will then start on a new diet in the hope that this time it will work. When really all they had to do was give their original choice some time. And one of the biggest problems for people on a diet is the fact that they are constantly thinking about food. It is on their mind all the time because they are on a diet. They tell everyone they are on a diet, they talk to other people about it, and without realising it, food has become the main focus of their thoughts. None of which is going to help them succeed.
Does this sound like you?
When you start on a new diet, in most cases the first thing you have to deal with is hunger and that can be too hard for most people to endure. For this reason alone, most diets fail. No-one wants to feel like they are starving, so it is human nature to ensure they get enough food. If you are on a diet that leaves you feeling hungry all the time then the chances are that you are destined to fail. It is no fun and life wasn’t meant to be this hard.
What usually happens after you have endured this period of hardship is that you find yourself on the “eating too much” bandwagon and any weight that you might have lost is put back on in double quick time. So the weight that you struggled to lose will pile back on in half the time it took to lose. And this leaves you feeling more disappointed than you would have been if you had never dieted in the first place
This is why most diets fail. Most, but not all. So find a diet that suits you. One that is easy for you to maintain. And try and work an exercise routine into it as well. It doesn’t need to be strenuous or complicated, something as simple as a brisk walk every day can work wonders. But don’t give up. Keep at it and you will be successful!
